Testimonials
Jeff and I wanted to say thank you to you and the young man that came to pick up Skipper. Please let him know we said thank you, he was very polite and respectful. And thank you for spending the time with me on the phone. This of course is unbelievably difficult, but you and the staff made it easier. Our other horse is getting long ok, and has formed a three some with our two goats. Nothing will ever be the same, but will be ok.

Love Your Pet Through Holiday Cheer With a Helpful Pet Sitter

November beckons in all that goes with the holiday season, from holiday shopping to traveling and family get togethers, and even a little bit of football for the sports fans. Holidays are a wonderful time of year where excitement fills the air and everyone seems just a bit friendlier and cheerful. As your family celebrates the holidays, don’t forget about your pet companions and how the holidays affect them.

Holiday travel captures some of the key arrangements that affect our families during the season as we make plans to travel all over to visit various family and friends. While some pets love travel and do well with travel, others are not as well suited. Brachycephalic dogs, or "smushed-faced" breeds like French Bulldogs and Pugs, have issues with travel, especially by air, as they need better air flow and breathing room than most air accommodations allow. Warm-weathered breeds, like a Chihuahua or a Peruvian Inca Orchid, may not appreciate a trip home to Minnesota in sub-zero temperatures, no matter how thick their sweaters are.

We're going where? Doesn't it snow there?

In addition to travel, gatherings parties, and more can affect the anxiety level and health of your pet during the holidays. Many pets do not like crowds or loud noises, and have to seek out a retreat within your home while you entertain. Others do not cope well with a change in their environment and can pick their fur or show other signs of anxiety while in the car or at a family member’s home for a get-together. Holiday décor brings about questionable safety as well, as plants like poinsettias could be a friend’s home where you’re taking your pet.

Other people are also sources of concern during the holidays. Well-meaning friends and family may not follow your strict diet policies for your pet, sneaking them food and more that could be harmful during family meals. If your pets aren’t used to small children, they may not handle being tugged on and played with well, or the child could even hurt them unintentionally if they are a small or fragile breed.

Your pet may not share in your family member’s enthusiasm for the holidays.
There are ways to avoid putting unnecessary risks or stresses on your pet during the holidays so that they can enjoy the season just as much as you do. Pet sitters are an invaluable aid during the holiday season, giving you a trusted person to watch over your pets with the same cares and considerations you have yourself. Many companies send out a sitter to your home that will stop in or check up on your pet, taking them for walks and feeding them, or even stay over, watching over your home and your furry family member. Even if you’re not traveling, having a day-care to take your pet to or having a sitter that can stay with your pet in a separate room while you entertain is an amazing asset so that you focus on your guests.

So how do you know that a sitter can be trusted?

Referrals from friends and co-workers are always helpful, but if no one has referred you to a service, contact Georgia Petsitters. This amazing service has a network of over 75 businesses and individuals that specialize in pet care and are ready to help you with your pet. Each of their members is an insured company with bonded employees so that you can rest assured that a professional pet-sitter will be watching over your family member. Have a safe and happy holiday season as you celebrate with family. As a family ourselves, the Shugarts understand a love for the holiday season and the want to keep your pets healthy and happy as you celebrate. As you bring in the season, be sure to share your holiday family pet photos with us on the Deceased Pet Care Facebook page!
